JOB DESCRIPTION                                                

Job Title: HS Science Teacher

Divisional Team: Science 

Department/School: High School

Reports to: Curriculum Leader / HS Principal

JOB PURPOSE

As a HS Science Teacher, providing instruction to students in various scientific disciplines, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science with IB and AP courses, the goal is to inspire and encourage students to explore and appreciate the world of Science, instill in them a lifelong passion for learning, and to equip them the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in higher education and beyond.

The role requires the teacher to design, design, develop, and implement a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the requirements of the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES inclusive but not limited to:

  1. Preparing and delivering engaging and challenging lesson plans that meet the needs of a diverse student population
  2. Developing assessments, assignments, and projects that accurately measure student learning
  3. Evaluating student progress and providing regular feedback to students and parents
  4. Providing guidance and support to students preparing for IB/AP exams
  5. Ability to create a positive learning environment and provide individualised support to students
  6. Collaborating with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities that integrate science with other subjects 
  7. Knowledge of the subject-specific requirements, exam formats, and scoring criteria in IB/ AP
  8. Have effective communication with parents, administrators and colleagues to ensure a positive learning environment
  9. Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned by the school administration

Technical skills

  • Must posses in-depth knowledge of fundamental scientific principles, theories, concepts, and applications on subject matter
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the requirements of the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs.
  • Proficient in conducting laboratory experiments and demonstrations that reinforce scientific concepts and principles including knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, equipment operation, and data analysis
  • Excellent in educational technology used to enhance student learning
  • Ability to evaluate and measure student learning accurately using grading rubrics and assessments

Qualifications and experiences preferred

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of Science
  • Familiarity with IB and AP curricula and assessment processes is a must have requirements
  • Passion for Science and a commitment to engaging and inspiring students
