Position is to provide maintenance services on Plant Utility & Facility Management such as building & grounds repair maintenance, electrical distribution system, steam & heating system, HVAC systems, multiple type of chilled water system, compressed air system, cold water system, fire fighting system, WWTP equipment & cold room, and in a manner that fully supports building, laboratory and Plant activities. Services include the operation, installation, modification and repair of equipment and systems. Position participates in basic design changes to maintain and enhance operations.

Position provides trouble shooting and problem solving using basic technical knowledge, analytical techniques and theory of operation for all building utility systems including day to day steam boiler operations and duties, heating, steam, condensate, compressed air, vacuum, hot water, hydronic, and HVAC and HVAC support systems.

Position participates in GBI compliance, energy auditing and performance sustaining including trending monitoring and analysis, trouble shooting and problem solving to drive energy saving.

With general direction and supervision, position coordinates the activities of internal disciplines and external contractors for the completion of routine and capital expenditures. This position ensures that all work is performed in accordance with established guidelines and regulations for safety, food safety, GMP’s and sanitation.

Job Requirements: 

·      Operate, repair and maintain building, laboratory and Plant utility & WWTP systems and equipment in a manner that fully supports building operations and Plant activities. 

·      Using basic knowledge and analytical techniques with operational theory of utility equipment and systems, trouble shoot and analyze problems and bring to resolution in a timely manner.

·      Perform preventative maintenance tasks to plant utility & WWTP equipment and systems as required through the FM Maintenance Management program. 

·      Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. 

·      Recommend changes to existing PM programs to enhance effectiveness and develop new PM programs as required for the support of operations and new equipment/process installations.

·      Recommend and implement design modifications to systems and equipment to enhance operations.

·      Manage the planning, implementation and start-up of capital projects and expenditure. 

·      Arrange and coordinate the use of outside contract services to accomplish this work. 

·      Track expenditures to ensure that approval limits are adhered to and that performance and completion expectations are met.

·      Recommend and implement design modifications to systems and equipment to enhance operations.

·      Manage the planning, implementation and start-up of capital projects and expenditure.

·      Prioritize and schedule requested and PM work in a manner that fully supports operations, maximizes run-times and enhances operations.

·      Schedule and direct the activities of outside contractors to accomplish routine work and work associated with capital expenditures and projects.

Knowledge/ Skills:

·      Technical knowledge of energy, utility & WWTP process equipment and systems with a basic understanding of operational theory.    

·      Ability to troubleshoot and repair utility & WWTP equipment and systems using basic analytical techniques and instrumentation under general supervision.  

·      Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, building equipment specifications, and technical publications

·      Working knowledge of Electrical Safe Work procedures.

·      Ability to effectively communicate technical data to non-technical personnel.

·      Ability to plan and perform work with General supervision and direction.  

·      Ability to plan and direct the activities of others.

·      Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate activities of contractors and vendors.

·      Ability to plan and execute multiple priorities while being flexible and adaptive to change.

·      Knowledge of products and processes associated with the Food Industry.

·      Ability to conduct energy performance audit and analysis.

Educational Requirements:

Degree in Electrical or competent steam engineer or mechanical engineering degree with solid years of hands on working experience in utility & WWTP plant system.
