JOB SCOPE

• Materials sourced for IPOH & PENANG factories
• Provide Support to Manufacturing, Newell Procurement, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain and others.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Guides the local Purchasing
• Evaluates the performance of the buyers and purchasing Assistant working for the Purchasing department
• Optimizes the use of the best practice of purchasing of the sites and the respect for the procedures of the Group
• Capacity to manage the projects in a complex organization and possess ability to work independently
• Responsible for the management of the purchasing function of all materials to ensure that all purchase are bought at the best price, with good service level, optimizing inventory for the companies. Negotiate with existing or new suppliers in order to improve spending.
• Be aware of personal responsibility with regards to safety, health and environment and to be continuously alert to potential risks of accident and pollution related to the job.
•  Monitor markets trends of main raw materials and benchmark with competitors. Capable to identify, propose and track improvement projects (raw materials, packaging, logistics, services, general services) and ensure yearly target is achieved
• Identify Prospective new suppliers. Monitor and challenge the capacity of existing suppliers to answer the company imperatives of costs, deadlines, quality, and quantities to be delivered on time
• Contributes effectively to the work of the multifunctional teams Marketing/R&D/purchase
• Negotiates the best conditions by taking into accounts of technical objectives. Ensure the renegotiations are according to the performances of the suppliers, the evolutions of the market and the needs for the company.
• Manage or coordinates with team the purchasing actions
• Manage relation with factories to ensure quality of products, proper service from suppliers and deal with all needed actions to support increased factory efficiency while optimizing end to end cost structure and analyst of the value of products
• Responsible for vendor performance review, follow up and initiating appropriate actions to improve suppliers performances.
• Comply with all requirements of the quality system. Identify and plan vendor audit as per quality system requirement.
• Provide Information on timely manner to the group of companies
• Attend to any other jobs / duties that are consistent or compatible with the terms of employment as may be assigned by the superior from time to time. Assist General Manager on any ad hoc project as and when required.
• Abide by the company’s personnel policies and procedures

 REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the purchases of raw materials / packaging materials.
• Good understanding of the industrial processes, good knowledge of the purchase procedures and modes of consultation of the suppliers (calls for tender, sourcing and tendering)
• Excellent control of the techniques of negotiation, tools and solutions of market regarding management of purchases.
• Capacity to work in matrix, in mode project and in global team
• Methodical, rigorous, diplomatic, strategic thinking, leading and good communication skills
• Fluent English. Understand other languages will be added advantage
