Role and Responsibility:
Position: Packaging Design Engineer (Location: Sriracha, Thailand) – Thermoforming Plastics
Report to: Head of Engineering
Job Description/Responsibilities:
NEFAB acquired Reflex Packaging Thailand in October 2021, and we are now setting up the Thermoforming Plastics Competency Center in Thailand to groom the new talent that capable in designing thermoforming plastics application by using Reflex Packaging’s state-of-the-art cushioning trays, using our unique know-how made from 100% recycled and ocean bound plastics that protected with our strong patent in US for our local and global customers. Our customers are demanding more cost efficient and sustainable supply chains, and the use of thermoformed cushioning enables significant savings – both in cost and CO2 emissions. As an example, compared to foam, Reflex Packaging’s cushioning typically has 50% lower CO2 output, better box shipping ratios, and saves up to 85% in shipping and warehouse space. We are excited to hire new packaging designer, to train, to groom and to make their unique competence available to our customers worldwide!
You will be hired and to be based in Sriracha, Thailand for long term employment in Thailand.
Job Summary:
- To learn design and drawing of thermoforming related applications, process improvement, and other industrial engineering solutions, while supporting Reflex-Thailand engineering work as assigned.
- To assist Reflex-Thailand staff to work with design procedure in Nefab system.
- To exchange the packaging design experience with Thai engineers.
- As the Thermoforming Plastics Design Engineer, you are expected to bridge the communication with other Nefab sites to transfer know-how of thermoforming design, cushioning function and other excellency from Reflex-Thailand.
- For both functions, you will carry Nefab’s 3 core values, Respect, Simplicity, and Empowerment and follow corporate code of conduct policy, hence ensure the daily activities meet Nefab Global Quality Policy and comply with Group ISO standard.
- This position will be supported by Design engineering team of Reflex-Thailand and Head of Engineering.
Main Responsibilities:
- To develop packaging design concepts in coordination with Sales team based on the customer requirements.
- To program CAM and operate CNC machines for making the mold, jig, equipment & etc.,
- To operate thermoforming machine for sample making.
- To coordinate with Sales team, production team and suppliers for samples.
- Test, validation & proving of developed design / solution.
- To work according to Nefab standards such as drawing manual and design procedures.
- To make technical proposals and concept and production drawings as per Nefab standards, achieve the plans, define procedures, select suppliers, calculate the cost of solutions, and support the customers in their project implementation.
- To document concept drawings and production drawings in Nefab database as per requirements.
- After completing the product drawing you are responsible of guiding production team to build sample products and make sure a solution is delivered within the given specifications, construction demands and packaging budget.
- To visit customers and material suppliers as needed.
- To correspondent any inquiries from the group companies about TF design, Mold and other equipment structure, Cushioning function & etc.,
- To provide support when the group companies request technical assistance at reasonable level.
- To communicate with group companies and share the best practices.
- To promote Kaizen activities.
- To ensure safe workplace.
- To take the initiative to carry out 6S activities.
Your qualifications:
- Proven experience in designing Thermoforming Plastics.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Design Related Courses or Mechanical Engineering degree background.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Thermoforming Industries or related fields.
- Extensive background in plastics thermoforming (this is a must).
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision with strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Possess strong leadership skills and strategic mindset.
- Possess strong ability in planning and organizational skills.
- Possess strong communications and presentation skills.
- Ability to read, analyse and interpret complex business-related documents.
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested & perform any other tasks assigned by manager.
- Ensure all the task completed within the tide deadline.
- A good Team player.
- Leading project with small teams.
- Well-versed with proven ability with MS Office, particularly Excel and Power Point.
- Be motivated to learn TF design. 3D and 2D CAD, Leadership skills, Logical thinking and communication, Interpersonal skills, cross cultural skill.
- Bi-Lingual capabilities desirable (English/Thai/Other).
